Every year, SCORE volunteers help thousands of entrepreneurs start small businesses and achieve new levels of success in their existing businesses. SCORE volunteers provide confidential business mentoring services, both in person and online. We lead seminars and workshops to help small business owners meet their goals and achieve success. We help expand outreach of SCORE through marketing and alliance building in our local communities. We provide subject matter expertise by industries and professional skills.
Volunteering as a SCORE mentor means you are joining a community of 13,000 diverse volunteers who are all committed to helping small business owners succeed. SCORE offers an opportunity for retired executives and business professionals to maintain and sharpen their business management skills by assisting small business entrepreneurs. SCORE suggests that candidates for membership meet the following guidelines:
- Experience in management, administration, business ownership or professional business experience in areas such as IT, Law or other relevent professions.
- Knowledge of contemporary business practices
- Ability to relate to and communicate with SCORE's diverse client base
Members should agree to:
- Actively participate in chapter meetings, committees, operations, and programs, including a minimum of 100 activity hours per year.
- Complete the forms necessary for recording counseling and other activities accurately and in a timely manner.
- Renew commitment by annually signing the code of ethics and conduct.
